Certified Sustainable launches to enable businesses and manufacturers to become more environmentally responsible

Certified Sustainable has been set up in response to requests from large corporations for a way to show they are truly committed to being environmentally responsible when it comes to waste management.

Certified Sustainable will provide accreditation to businesses in the sector which have made a clear and demonstrable commitment to best-practice sustainability and waste management. Accreditations will be graded Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum.

As well as these accreditations, Certified Sustainable promises to support businesses and their managers in ways to drive change from within, provide expert and independent advice on how to improve their environmental performance. This support will also enable businesses to take control of their waste streams. Certified Sustainable will also provide a members only portal where businesses can access, view and update their waste management performance in a single place.

The company will operate UK-wide and hopes companies will join it in its bid to make the industry more environmentally responsible and sustainable. Wilf Robinson said:

“Certified Sustainable was started by a small team of independent waste management experts, united by their belief that every business can operate in a truly sustainable manner without adverse effect on profit or shareholder value.”

“There exists a wealth of technical expertise within the industry that could drive a more sustainable and environmentally-responsible approach. However, this often plays second fiddle to the commercial desire to simply secure contracts for the best price.”

“Our goal is to, on a business-by-business basis, shine a light on the waste management process, to highlight inefficiencies, raise awareness of the more sustainable waste management options, and drive positive change.”
